Thank you for considering sharing your time with Loretto. Because we care for older adults and individuals with complex health needs, New York State requires certain health and safety documentation before volunteers begin. This page gives you a simple overview of what to expect — and we’re here to help every step of the way.

✔ Recent Physical (within 1 year)

If you haven’t had one recently, let us know — we can help you arrange this.

✔ Tuberculosis (TB) Screening (within 12 months) You’ll need one of the following:

  • Two PPD skin tests, OR
  • A negative TB blood test (Quantiferon/TB Gold), OR
  • If you previously tested positive, a chest x-ray within the last 5 years

Not sure what you’ve had? We can help you figure it out.

✔ Measles & Rubella (MMR)

Requirements vary slightly by birth year:

  • Born before 1957: Proof of Rubella immunity
  • Born after January 1, 1957: Proof of Measles (2 doses) and Rubella (1 dose) immunity

A blood test (titer) showing immunity is acceptable.

✔ Flu Vaccine (Seasonal)

  • Vaccination is highly recommended.
  • If you choose not to receive it, you may sign a declination form and wear a mask during flu season.

✔ COVID-19 Vaccine

  • Documentation of vaccination OR
  • Signed declination form

You do not need to have everything in hand before reaching out.

If you’re missing something:

  • We can clarify what applies to you
  • We can provide forms for your healthcare provider
  • We can help coordinate next steps
